Volunteering in religions

Religious persons can be great inspiration for religious and also non-religious volunteers.

It is obvious that volunteering can be represented even if you are non-religious person. But it shouldn’t be a problem to gain inspiration from famous people who were members of the church.

Even if it’s too bothering to talk about religions, even if you aren’t a believer of transcendence it’s still true that there are some really beautiful examples of religious volunteerism which can be inspirational.

Saint Nicholas is one of the religious people who volunteered because of his belief in God. He always contributed secretly. This anonymity had a goal: he wanted to show that goodness is coming directly from God. As James said in his Letter: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

So besides helping others Christians are also trying to aim at God. The purpose of helping is to show where all this goodness come from eventually. To show the greater good that is controlling our world.

We can see that non-religious volunteers have the same goal. They don’t call it God but love or human kindness. But their mission is the same: helping others and make themselves a better person by practicing unselfishness. Religion and volunteerism has the same origin. So it’s very helpful to study religions to see what are the possibilities of helping others. Even if you are a non-religious person.
