Saint Nicholas, a world famous volunteer

International Volunteer Day is also the day of Saint Nicholas who is one of the world famous volunteers.

Maybe it is not a coincidence that International Volunteer Day is held a day before Saint Nicholaus Day. In some of the countries Saint Nicholas comes and gives present to children on the evening of December 5. On this day we remember a bishop who lived simply among people and taught them the importance of compassion and love. When people were starving he took care of giving them food that he bought from church money. There are plenty of wondrous legends about him.

He is an icon of unselfishness. So he can be the idol of volunteers too. The day of volunteers is also an opportunity to remember Saint Nicholas and his actions who is one of the first world famous volunteers on earth. Let’s celebrate him and International Volunteer Day together by registering GLOCOVO and finding the way to help others!
